Pytch serves as a transitional bridge between the widely taught introductory programming language Scratch and the more established and conventional programming language, Python. The objective of this workshop is to help participants to dissect a Scratch Game, discovering its core gameplay code features. With this understanding, learners are challenged to replicate the game in Python, facilitated by Pytch, employing familiar key terms and acclimating themselves to programming in a text-based language.
This initiative represents an international collaboration, conducted in partnership with Trinity College Dublin, the developers of Pytch, aimed at investigating the efficacy of tools like Pytch as an intermediary step in computer science education.
The CPD session is on the 1st of February 2024 at 4-5pm. It is suitable for primary, secondary and high school teachers. The teachers will be introduced to the software, shown it’s potential, and provided a 8 week lesson plan and content.
It will be done remotely, via the teams link.
