Technocamps was pleased to welcome the Minister for Education, Kirsty Williams AM to its Headquarters at Swansea University to find out more about the project and the work being done in Wales together with its partner, The Institute of Coding.

Accompanied by the Director of Technocamps Professor Faron Moller and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Swansea University Professor Martin Stringer, the Minister was given a tour of the CoSMOS Outreach Space and met with key members of the team and other academics.

The Minister was able to see first-hand the work that the project undertakes, delivering workshops to young people in Wales. Pupils from Years 4 and 5 from Creunant Primary were on hand to showcase the work that they are doing as part of Technocamps’ collaboration with Theatr na nÓg and its production of Butterfly Hunter which embraces the ethos of the new Curriculum for Wales. The workshop takes pupils through the principles of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence using the story of Welsh naturalist Alfred Russell Wallace as a stimulus, introducing STEM learning in a fun and creative way.
