Showcasing our Amazing Technology with Oriel Science at the Waterfront Museum in Swansea 

In celebration of British Science Week and International Women’s Day, Super Science Swansea is an event not to be missed. Technocamps was once again privileged to have been invited by our CoSMOS partners Oriel Science to be part of this incredible showcase. The event really is ‘super’ and offers families a real insight into the work of scientists working on real-life problems in laboratories across the country.

Hosted in the National Waterfront Museum, visitors of all ages were able to see a huge range of interactive science exhibits from animals and insects to meteorites and of course, the Technocamps robots which, as always, proved popular with both children and adults.

Jack and Rama from Technocamps Swansea met and greeted a large number of guests, showing them how to programme Sphero robots to go through a specially created water maze and LegoEV3s to follow an obstacle course. We also set a challenge for visitors to solve a range of cryptography puzzles – awarding special prizes to those who managed to complete all of them. Our ambassadors were on hand to help anyone struggling with any of the challenges and to explain more about the work that we do with schools.

In spite of the current COVID-19 crisis, the event was extremely well attended with over three and a half thousand people visiting on a single day. Guests were nevertheless very conscious of the impact of the virus, following all the necessary guidance regarding hygiene and taking the opportunity to educate themselves about the best ways to stay safe. We were asked many questions about how technology could help for things such as delivering much-needed resources and helping people keep communities together using virtual methods.
