Our annual Technocamps Robotics Competition was held on 17 July 2019 in the University of South Wales, Cardiff. The theme of this year’s competition was ‘Disaster Droids’ and we challenged pupils from across Wales to answer the question:

“Can robots provide relief where humans cannot?”

30 teams signed up across Wales with 8 teams competing in the final.

The challenge was to design and create a robot which is capable of providing assistance to disaster-struck areas such as war zones, and areas devastated by natural disasters such as hurricanes, tsunamis, etc.

It was tremendously interesting to see what ideas pupils came up with and where their imagination led them.

We saw some amazing creations and all pupils worked extremely hard demonstrating real passion and enthusiasm. They made an outstanding effort.

The winner of this year’s Robotics Competition was Hawthorn High School from Pontypridd. Many Congratulations!

Second place went to Ysgol Gymraeg Casnewydd, from Newport.

Well done to each and every team that participated and made an outstanding effort to make this 2019 Robotics Competition a huge success.
