Technocamps enjoyed a fun-filled week at this year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd in Builth Wells. The stall was overrun by enthusiastic welsh pupils trying their hand at programming our LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots to solve a task. We also had pupils and parents trying out their problem-solving skills with our computational thinking games programmed in Scratch. The interest in our stall was overwhelming and one particular highlight was appearing on S4C’s live coverage of the Eisteddfod on Thursday. It was a pleasure to offer these experiences through the medium of Welsh to so many young Welsh-speakers in what is a great celebration and showcase of our nation’s culture. Speaking of culture and the arts, at Technocamps we are currently looking forward to seeing pupils’ creativity as they prepare for our annual robotics competition which is this year based on the theme “Autonomous Artists”. Our aim with this theme is to inspire pupils to combine the creative skills in both Computer Science and the arts and we’re very excited to see the results!
