A pioneering coding club started by Jimi Breisford-Smith; a pupil in Year 6 at Hendrefoilan Primary School is now being supported by Technocamps. At the club, pupils have been self-teaching themselves concepts such as web development, Javascript, and more. Members of the club are very enthusiastic and choose to spend time in the club during their lunch break.
Technocamps was asked to help support this club, and we were more than happy to help. One of our ambassadors, Kevin; a Masters of Software Engineering student, now visits the club every Wednesday to help take the club further.
In the sessions that Technocamps are delivering, we are helping to introduce the building blocks that all computer scientists use on a day to day basis. Soon it is hoped that the club will transition over to using the BBC Micro:bit to begin teaching the children how the concepts they have been learning apply to more than just web development.
Recently, the club was featured in the Evening Post.
